Twenty years of sharing the holiday with winery guests, Elk Run continues its Holiday festivities. Located on a property from the 1700’s, the winery and vineyard is the perfect location for experiencing some to the Christmas traditions of the past.
Guests are invited to join us for readings in the parlor of the Wine maker’s home circa 1756. The house in dressed in Christmas of the 1800’s and serves period cookies and appetizers with a glass of wine, mulled wine or warm cider. This is free to children and $15.00 per adult. Performers read pieces from Dickens, and various timely period pieces. Performers are dressed in period customs. Bette Cassatt is a local playwright and fight choreographer with the affinity for action and period pieces. She has played Duck in Nan with the Maryland Ensemble Theater. She will be playing Gill in The Seconds Shepard’s Play with the Frederick Classical Ensample Dec 13-14. Past performance s include Tales of Poe on Amazon, at the Kennedy Center and Folgers Shakespeare and the National Theater, She teaches Stage combat with Compass Home School Enrichment in Oakland Va. the Arts Museum, and The Shakespeare Theatre. .Louis Zamichieille is a local actor/writer/director, who when not performing works for a local engineering firm.
Strolling between the winery and house local singer and performer John Durant dressed as an Old World Troubadour performs Medieval European to Modern American Folk, on guitar. His music, and storytelling style bring to live what it was like in those time periods.
Reservations are suggested. Three performances run between 1-4.
